Learning Together Semester 2

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We want to thank you for your continued support as we navigate education in the midst of a pandemic.

As we promised families in August, we will be offering the selection between virtual and in-person learning for the second semester. At this time, we are planning to continue both in-person and virtual learning options as currently offered. Our goal, as always, is to maintain safety protocols while engaging and supporting our students in their learning. Decisions regarding schedules, teaching assignments, transportation, food service, and childcare must be made prior to the second semester in order to plan effectively.

For In-Person Learners, we will continue the health and safety protocols we have in place including the K-12 mask mandate, social distancing when possible, cohorting our elementary classrooms, etc.  At this time we anticipate our High School in-person learners will be returning to 5 days of on-campus instruction second semester.

For Virtual Learners, we will continue using our SR3 teachers for grades K-5 and Edgenuity for our students in grades 6-12.  For more information about virtual learning, please click here to visit our website.

In order to plan effectively, we need to know the intentions of our families & students. If you are pleased with your current learning scenario, you do not need to do a thing. The default selection will be what you are doing currently. We ask that all families who wish to make a change to their current selection, reach out to your building administrator by Monday, December 7th.

A few things to keep in mind…

  • The decision you are making for your student(s) will be for the entire second semester, running from January 11th through May 20th.

  • K-12 in-person learners will be required to wear a mask.

  • Students who wish to attend Hillyard Technical school will need to be enrolled in-person.

  • Virtual Learners will not be eligible for sports or extracurricular activities.

  • Virtual Learners who are not or have not been successful may be required to return to in-person learning.

  • Virtual Learners who are returning to In-Person Learning will be required to return with their district-provided device for classroom use.

  • While every effort will be made to maintain consistency, students may experience changes in their schedules as the number of students learning in-person or virtual fluctuates.
