Stay Home when you are sick

As a reminder, we are working under the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control, Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the Missouri Department of Health, and the Andrew County Health Department. These guidelines mandate that individuals who are sick should stay home.

This fall we have more strict on sending children home when they have symptoms and this will continue to be the case for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.  Students and staff that experience one or more of these symptoms below are asked to stay home from school for 48 hours symptom free/symptom improvement.

  • New, persistent cough (for those with chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline)
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Vomiting or diarrhea
  • Fever of 100.4 F or higher or chills
  • Sore throat
  • Unexplained fatigue, Muscle or body aches

Please utilize this home screening tool every morning before school. Please note that this is a tool to be used for guidance, it does NOT need to be sent to school everyday.

We have learned this is an ever changing illness. As policies are developed they will be sent out. As changes arise we will let you know.

What you can do as parent/caregiver:

  • KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME WHEN THEY ARE SICK.
  • Keep your emergency contact information in Tyler up to date, we need to be able to reach you.
  • Instruct your child on proper handwashing.
  • Teach them to maintain physical distancing of 6 feet. To younger students, this can be explained as staying in their “bubble.”
  • Students wear a mask in hallways and when social distancing of 6 ft, isn’t possible, currently masks are recommended for K-5,but not required.
  • Please do not medicate your child and send them to school.
  • Water bottle filling stations have replaced drinking fountains, your child will need to bring a water bottle to school.
  • Students who have been tested for COVID-19 and are awaiting test results should stay home, even if they are asymptomatic.
